May 2019 Newsletter/What’s On from AdvoCard and Edinburgh Community Voices

Here is the May 2019 Newsletter / What’s On from Edinburgh Community Voices and AdvoCard:

May looks like a very busy month with Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW) taking place from Monday 13 May to Sunday 19 May 2019.  The theme for MHAW 2019 is body image

AdvoCard/Edinburgh Community Voices, LEARN and the Patients Council are co-hosting a consultation event on body image and human rights.  Called Mind Our Rights! this event is taking place at The Hive at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital on Wednesday 15 May between 1pm and 4.30pm.  You can find out more and book a place at the following link or by calling Becky at AdvoCard on 0131 554 5307 |

Places are limited so please book if you wish to attend | Sandwich lunch provided for all attendees at 1pm.

Also be on the look-out for some very colourful flyers on the static screens in libraries and GP surgeries across Edinburgh and the Lothians.  Your local library should also have relevant books and information available…and if they don’t, you could ask for any books and resources on mental health to be put out on display.  Find out more about Mental Health Awareness Week here:
…and the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival (SMHAF) taking place here in Edinburgh and across the country between Friday 03 and Sunday 26 May. The theme for SMHAF 2019 is connected; find out more about this year’s festival and local events here: …

We hope you find the May Newsletter useful; it has updates on the AdvoCard Collective Advocacy projects and lots of information about support group meetings and other events in Edinburgh. If we have included information about your project or event, please check that we have printed the correct information…and let us know if we need to change anything for the next edition.

Please get in touch if there is anything you would like us to include on a regular basis or if you would like to write something for a future edition.
